Through Austria to Lake Walchen
Experience details
Quiet roads on your Lake Walchen motorcycling tour
You start the trip in Lenggries and ride along the river Isar towards Lake Sylvenstein. Experience nature from its most beautiful side here: turquoise waters and mountains on both sides of the road invite you to take a break at one of the many rest stops. In Vorderriss you take the toll road through the nature reserve to Wallgau. Then you head south to Austria via Mittenwald, where you cruise from Scharnitz to Zirl through impressive landscapes. After having passed under the Inntal motorway, you will travel through Sellrain and Kühtai to Schrofen-Kircheben. The route of around 40 kilometres winds its way through the deserted valley along winding bends and provides a great deal of riding pleasure. This highlight is followed by the next treat after just a short stint: Hahntennjoch mountain pass. With inclines of up to 19 percent in some areas, bends wind their way steeply uphill before heading quickly downhill again.
Even more bends on your motorcycling tour at Lake Walchen
Once you’ve reached Elmen, you can look forward to a culinary treat: Treibholz biker café invites many motorcyclists to take a break with its casually designed interior and freshly prepared home cooking. Once you’ve taken a bite, you’ll continue your journey to Namlos valley full of energy. Similar to Leutasch and Kühtai valley, you will be faced with winding roads with little traffic here, where you can become one with your motorcycle and snake through the woods. In Bichlbach, the route then takes you eastwards back to Germany via the so-called Ehrwald road. After having passed Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you return to Wallgau on Lake Walchen. From here you can head back to Lenggries via a toll road. At Lake Walchen, there are many options to stop for a short break or a dip to cool you down. Afterwards, you head back to authorised BMW Motorrad retailer Martin via Hinterbichl, where your Lake Walchen motorcycling tour ends.
Please note the motorcycle noise ban in Tyrol, effective between 15 April and 31 October. The motorcycling ban applies to all motorcycles generating a stationary noise level over 95 decibels (dB(A)).
