Hire a motorcycle: explore Annecy and the Savoy Alps
In the Savoy Alps, there’s no better way of getting from one place to another than on a motorbike – and there are a lot of places to get to know. Annecy itself is an attractive city with a long history, and is also popularly referred to as the “Venice of the Alps”. Above it, the Château d'Annecy rises majestically – an imposing fortified castle from the High Middle Ages. Just 25 miles north of Annecy – an ideal distance for a motorcycling trip – is Geneva, one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. Trips to destinations south of Annecy are just as worthwhile: Albertville, host of the Winter Olympics, and nearby Courchevel are not just popular ski resorts, but also a highlight for motorcyclists at warmer times of year. Here, in the Vanoise massif, you can find some of the highest mountains in the Alps: over 40 peaks 3,000 metres high form the impressive backdrop to your motorcycling tour. And talking of high mountains... from Annecy it’s only about 63 miles to Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest summit.
