Rent a motorcycle in Lyon with Rent A Ride
This city in the south-east of France is considered the heartland of French cuisine – and it has a great deal to offer in terms of other culinary delights, too. After you’ve picked up your BMW motorbike from your rental partner and set off on your first jaunt through the city, you’ll notice one thing: Lyon is full of surprising contradictions! With its 2000 years of history, you’ll be able to marvel at numerous historical buildings, especially in the old town, while at the same time many ultramodern complexes display all the beauty of contemporary architecture.
On your motorcycle, you’re perfectly equipped to explore Lyon and its many hills, while enjoying amazing views of the city. The Fourvière hill in the west of the old town, in particular, is known for its unique views, and is crowned by the catholic Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière at the top of the hill. Between the Saône and Rhône rivers that traverse the city, you’ll find another hill, where the former silk workers’ quarter, La Croix-Rousse, nestles. Here you can still experience the atmosphere of the 18th century, even today.

Hire a motorcycle: explore Lyon and the surrounding vineyards
As well as modern architecture and historical buildings from the Renaissance, the cityscape is characterised by murals originating from the 1970s. You’ll find these lovingly detailed artworks on many façades, displaying optical illusions or embellishing the streets with colourful images. If you want to find out more about Lyon’s history, a visit to the Lugdunum Museum and the two neighbouring amphitheatres (Théâtres Romains), which were built in the 2nd century, are an absolute must.
After a ride through the picturesque city with its many attractions, you might head off into the environs of Lyon, where the landscape is dotted with vineyards. Hills abound, which are ideal for indulgent motorcycling tours past rivers and enchanting lakes. On your tour, you’ll also pass through many villages, where restaurants with authentic French cuisine offer a perfect excuse to stop.
Back in Lyon’s inner city, you’ll find a parking space for your bike in no time, and can rejoin the hustle and bustle on the Place Bellecour or the Rue de la République pedestrian boulevard.
